Why do you need to do this?

Under Australian WHS laws, all businesses β€” including small businesses and sole traders β€” must identify workplace hazards and manage risks through proper assessment, including environmental risks. This protects you, others, and the environment from harm. Larger companies need to know that even small suppliers can spot and control dangers in their work.

Build your response:

Part 1: How do you spot risks?

  • What do you check before starting work? (tools, site, weather)

  • Name specific hazards in YOUR work (heights, electricity, chemicals, equipment)

  • Include environmental risks YOU face (noise, dust, waste, spills)

Part 2: How do you control risks?

  • What do you do FIRST to eliminate risks? (can you avoid it completely?)

  • If you can't eliminate, what do you do? (guards, barriers, PPE)

  • Give real examples from YOUR work

Write 2-3 sentences: Describe your actual process for checking risks and what specific controls you use in your type of work.
