Why do you need to do this?
Australian law requires all businesses β including sole traders and small businesses β to provide the information, training, instruction or supervision necessary to ensure work is carried out safely. Larger companies must check that their contractors are properly trained and competent. As a sole trader or small business, you need to show that you have the right skills and knowledge to do your work safely and that you keep them up to date.
Build your response:
Part 1: How do you manage training and competency?
How do you check people have the right skills? (verify licences, check references, test knowledge)
What's your induction process? (safety briefing, site tour, explain procedures)
How do you provide ongoing training? (toolbox talks, refreshers, new equipment training)
How do you identify when training is needed? (new tasks, incidents, changes in law)
Part 2: How do you track and verify?
Where do you keep training records? (folder, spreadsheet, online system)
How do you know when training expires? (diary, reminders, regular checks)
How do you verify competency? (observe work, check understanding, practical assessment)
Write 2-3 sentences: Describe your actual process for managing training and ensuring competency - focus on HOW you do it, not what qualifications you have.
If you have employees:

Giving access to relevant training and refresher courses
