This could be undertaken through Toolbox talks, Safety committee, workgroup, pre start meetings, team meetings, phone calls, emails or face to face briefings.

Contractor Management

Explain how your company determines that subcontractors have suitable HSE standards and performance

You will need to provide examples of how you ensure subcontractors are suitable, such as review of contractor procedures, collection and filing insurances.

Your process should take into consideration the subcontractors safety, experience, history, and your relationship with the contractor.

  • Work at height

  • Work in an area with movement of powered mobile plant

Your Safe Work Method Statement needs to include the following:

  • Contractor company name, ABN/ACN, address

  • The details of the person reviewing the control measures and date reviewed.

  • A description of the activity / scope of work addressed by the SWMS, and workplace location.

  • Identifies the High Risk Work covered by the SWMS.

  • The risk assessment/procedure and review guidelines adequately breaks down the steps / tasks relating to the risk.

  • For each step/task the hazards are appropriately identified, and risks are sufficiently assessed.

  • Adequately describes the measures to be implemented to control the risks. Nb. Controls should be as per the hierarchy of controls.

  • Provision for names, positions & signatures of any contractors consulted in the SWMS to be recorded.
